Q. |

I am 43 years old and have a pretty good over- bite. At my age is there a way to correct this with out have braces??? |
|
Melody, Tallahassee, Florida 12/09/08
|
|

YES! there is a way to correct an overbite without orthodontics
( Braces ). It is one of the more exciting procedures that we do. Most dentist are not aware of the technology used to correct over bites, without braces. When we correct someone with a severe overbite, it helps them look younger, and helps them to function better.
Great Question.

Q. |

Dear Dr.
I have several infected roots in my teeth. I do not have the money for co payments, I barely pay the rent. I have a sore throat now for over two months and sickness from the infection getting into my blood stream and I have mitrial valve prolapse. I am very sick. It seems as though Dr. Barr is only interested in money when My insurance is paying 80 %. You would think he could let me make payments on the co-payments. But I have to suffer with a tremendous headache and illness. Where can I get the help I need? I have bad credit so care credit is denied. I wish I was dead. It would be relief from my head hurting on the very top, under my eyes, and my whole face. I had a cold sore on my right eye and almost lost my cornea. Goddamnit, all for just a couple of hundred dollars. That fucking Dr. Barr just walks out and leaves me, no discussion about helping me set up payments, and his staff sucks ass. I get anti biotics and pain pills and sent out if I do not have any |

Dear Marion, Have you ever tried calling affordable denture's on north Monroe? very inexpensive, and they can help you with payments. They can remove the infected teeth, and replace them.
The Dr there is a pretty nice guy.
hope this helps

Q. |

I notice your heading states you have multiple "specialties" Are these actual ADA specialties? What is the full scoop on this? |
|
curious georgia, atlanta,ga 11/18/08
|
|

sorry about the confusion, the list of areas of specialty, are areas that I myself specialize in. However the ADA does not recognize any of those areas as a specialty. If they were recognized by the ADA as a specialty, that specialty would be the only type of dentistry that dentist could practice. General dentist can perform any specialty, but specialist can only practice their designated specialty. I have had post graduate training in the areas listed, like TMJ and veneers, but they are not recognized as a specialty by the ADA. thanks for the question

Q. |

What is the difference between a crown and an overlay? I recently was given a porcelain over ceramic crown installed which is in my opinion "bulky" compared to my previous tooth. I am not happy with the way the tooth looks at the gum line. My dentist keeps pushing me to get additional crowns but after seeing this this first one, I don't like the look. Would an overlay be better? How does an overlay differ from a veneer? |

Anonymous, Tallahassee, FL 11/10/08

|

Great question, and unfortunately we see this too often, when bulky crowns are made and put into the mouth's of patients. an onlay is basically the same size as the tooth was before the prep, its more conservative, leaves healthy tooth structure,
feel free to call me and make an appointment, I will take a look at it for you.
Thanks

Q. |

Dear Dr.Willis:
You are , I believe, still on the list of Compbenefits Insurance, but you do not accept any new patients? When would you accept new patients under this insurance plan?
If not, where can I find information on insurance plans that you would accept?
Thank you for your help!

unfortunately comp-benefits insurance still has our name on there list even though we have asked them many times to take us off. they unfortunately never take someone's name off the list, they just put an astrek next to there name.
Dental insurance is actually bad for people,
Insurance companies routinely deny claims for services,
The maximum benefits from insurance in the 60's was about 1,000.00 dollars, Today 40 years later its still 1,000.00 dollars.
most of our patients do not have any type of dental insurance,
however we will help you file your insurance so you can possibly get some of your premium back.
give Trina a Call at 877-5151 she can help you with your insurance concerns.
Thanks for the question
