Matthew R. Willard began work in the criminal law arena in 1987 as a Certified Legal Intern for the State Attorney’s Office in the Second Judicial Circuit. During his tenure at the State Attorney’s Office, he prosecuted DUI’s, drug offenses, violent crimes, violations of probation, and various other misdemeanor offenses.
Mr. Willard was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1998, and to the United States District Court, Northern District in 2000. He has served as a Law Clerk for several well known firms, and now handles criminal cases exclusively. Mr. Willard has experience handling Federal, State, and Municipal offenses. He also handles cases for students accused of violating the Conduct Code at Florida State University. He can also help clients who face license suspensions at the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.
Matthew R. Willard earned his A.A., with Honors, from Tallahassee Community College in 1992. He earned his B.A. in Philosophy from Florida State University in 1995. He graduated Summa Cum Laude and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, and Golden Key. Mr. Willard graduated from the Florida State University College of Law in 1998. While attending law school, Mr. Willard was an active member of the school’s Trial Team, and won the Best Advocate Award at a National Competition in New York.
Prior to attending college, Mr. Willard served his country in Desert Storm during his four year term in the United States Navy. He earned a Combat Action Medal while in the Persian Gulf, and received an Honorable Discharge in 1991.
